Caste System in BNW

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the caste system in the World Society? Do we have any form of the caste system (unofficially,of course) in our society? If so, provide an example.

  1. The advantages of a caste system is that people know if you can do a level of work. But I feel that a caste system would work better if people grew up the same and then about Jr high or high school they are divided based on skill not by birth. I also think that a caste system dose exsist in high school it is not based on ability or birth but on how you look and how you act in socioty. So the jocks and preps are the tops and socialy awkward are on the bottom.

  2. In the world society, the caste system is an advanced yet unmoral technique. The caste system was created to prioritize the citizens from the natural gifted to others that were not so intelligent. People high in the caste system are well respected as where the Epsilons have none. In the caste system, the lower rank you are the more natural abilities you are stripped of leaving you almost handicap. In today's working force is just as similiar as BNW. A janitor will not receive any respect but is humble for his job, whereas the boss, or vice president high in rank, has the highest respect and looks down on the rest.

  3. There are advantages in the caste system in the Brave New World because it lets people know where they stand and who does what jobs. Also, there are disadvantages because they can't work their way up to become wealthier like the poor people in our world can. In todays society their is a slight form of a caste system because many people are on different levels of life but unlike the brave new world our poor and uneducated people can work their way up the chain and become wealthier.

  4. The advantages in a caste system of any type would be that a person would never feel lost or out of place simply because yoou know your place to begin with. The disadvantages of a caste system would be the unfairness it involves. You are born into what you are, never having the chance or freedom to choose, therfore being subjected to your destiny instead of manifesting it yourself. Yes present day does have a sort of caste system, like on a plane. There's first clas, buisness classs, and coach etc. Today it is based off of how much money you have instead of how smart you are or how much oxygen your embryo got while being produced.

  5. in the new world their avantages are to tell the workers apart and so the person never feels lost, you always know where you belong. in our world it is simmailar because of the goverment we have split classes like the new world also in the buiness classes. there is first, second, and when you are on an air plane there is first class and middle class.

  6. I guess the advantage could be that people know what they are suppose to be and the jobs they are suppose to have so they never have to work towards anything else in life. There are different levels in our society today. You have the upper, middle, and lower class. And sometimes that keep people from associating with each other. Also it keeps some people from certain jobs depeneding on how much money they have. Also in some countries the government pays a major roll in choosing there jobs and there arent as many oppertuinities as in america.

  7. Yes, there are soma advantages to the caste system. Everyone has jobs and no one has to worry about unemployment. The disadvantages are of course that you are born into your job and have no choice what to do. Also in communist countries the government may choose what job you do, so yes in our society there is some sort of caste system.
