How can the people of the Alpha and Beta castes of Brave New World be considered slaves? What enslaves them and how?
Are we also enslaved in our society? If so, how?

In the Modern world we could be considerd slaves to socioty, to technology and to others. We constintly worry and act based on what others think(whether we think about it or not). We also have become so ingrosed in technology that we have lost some of our privicy.
ReplyDeleteThe alphas and beta's are slaves because they half to follow a set of rules and do certain things that the DHC wants them to. For example they threatin Bernard to start acting like everyone else or he will be sent to iceland. In our society i don't think were enslaved, but we do follow rules and we can also not follow them but we wont be deported if we choose not to follow them. We have a free soceity and many privileges.
ReplyDeleteThe Alphas and Betas are enslaved to the ideals and the morality of the World State. Their existence is under total control through their peers and hypnopaedia. As for our own world, we too are slaves despite that we have an incredible amount of freedom. We are slaves to the working force where we must meet requirements to be successful in our lives. We are told to grow up and forget childish dreams to do this we higly dislike.

ReplyDeleteThe people are more like slaves than they are free. The epsilons are enslaved because they can only reach a certin hight in their brain power. Although it is said they enjoy what they do, it is not fair for them to not beable to enjoy the stuff alphas do because they were predestinated a certin way.
ReplyDeleteThe citizens of Brave new world are considered slaves in my point of view because they dont have many choices in life. They wont get to explore the troubles of having children, or washing clothes, starvation, etc. etc. "Give me liberty or give me death." A famous quote from one of our founding fathers, patrick henry.
ReplyDeleteI agree with dalton because in our society we are allowed to have individual freedom but there are consquences if we do not follow the rules. We will not be deported like bernard but we will be improsined. lovee therese!
ReplyDeleteI think that they are slaves because they do what the government wants them to do and can't do anything to control it becuase they take soma,"The Mind Control." Freedom is not a option for them because it doesn't matter what class they're in they will always do something that the gov't wants them to do, like dictator.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Will, mainly because I feel as if I am addicted to technology. For instance, if I forget my cell cell phone at home I will send my parents all the way back just to bring it to me. My whole life is based on my cell phone, television and the computer. I believe in the future everything will be all about technology and nothing about what you think on your own.
ReplyDeleteThe alpha and beta caste are only enslaved intellectual, brainwashed into thinking in a certain way, a specific way actually. They are enslaved by the morals and ideals of their society. Today, society is not enslaved by the morals or ideals of the government or those around them. We were naturally born, giving us the freedom to think and have opinions that those in the Brave New World didn't have the chance or choice to do.

Such as taking somas, feely pictures, etc. We are enslaved in our society by the constant dependence on technology and natural resources such as oil and gas. These dependencies are making us too reliant and causing it to somehow enslave us? I dont know what im talkin bout. just writing B.S
ReplyDeletethe people of the new world are inslaved as a result of being conditioned and not having the ablility of using any emotions. we are naturally born and are not made to look like a perfect model. we make our own choices and have many rights the rights we dont have are for our own pertection yet there are some currutions in the world that may never be fix but the freedom is not a question to argue about. in new world they have no morals they are summing up the precurser to there own death of what they think is happeness. in our world we have unlimmited freedom, obviously not for drugs and porn only ignorent people would want that.

ReplyDeletei think that every one in the brave new world are slaves because no one can make there own decisions. They are forced to take somas, and they are pretty much brain washed day and night. There lives are not there own.
